Umdloti Local is an independent guide to Umdloti and the Sibaya precinct, written by one person who owns property in the village. It exists because nobody else was keeping the facts about this place in one place, dated and sourced.
Who writes it
One Umdloti property owner, writing under the site name rather than a byline. The facts, not the person, are the point. Every page lists the sources it was built from so you can check the work without knowing who did it.
The disclosure
This site's owner owns the two apartments on the Stay page. That interest shows up in two ways: a stay page and a buy page. Those two pages sell. Every other page on the site is written to be useful whether or not you ever get in touch, and carries at most one small link back to the stay page.
How a fact gets on a page
- It comes from a named source, and that source is listed at the bottom of the page with a link you can follow.
- It carries the date it was checked. Numbers without a date are worth nothing in a place changing this fast.
- If two sources disagree, the page says so rather than picking the tidier answer.
- If it cannot be confirmed, the page says unconfirmed. It does not guess, and it does not round a guess into a fact.
What this site will not do
- Publish prices, rates or opening hours that a business has not published itself.
- Reprint photos from Facebook groups or other people's sites.
- Take money to move a venue up a list. There are no paid listings.
- Invent a first-person story to make a page feel warmer.
Corrections
If something here is wrong, say so and it gets fixed with the date of the fix. Corrections are a feature of a local site, not an embarrassment. Use the enquiry form on the stay page until a dedicated contact address is live.
Independence
This site is not the Umdloti Smart Village NPC, the Umdloti Coastal Conservancy, the eMdloti UIP or the eThekwini municipality, and it does not speak for any of them. It links to them where they publish something.
