Short version: this site collects an email address if you hand one over, and nothing else that identifies you. No advertising trackers, no data sold to anyone.
Who is responsible
The owner of Umdloti Local runs this site as an individual and is the responsible party for the purposes of the Protection of Personal Information Act, Act 4 of 2013.
What is collected
- Newsletter sign-ups. Email address, and a first name if you give one. Used to send the weekly email you asked for.
- Enquiries. Name, email address, dates and whatever you write in the message. Used to answer the enquiry.
- Server logs. The hosting platform records requests, including IP addresses, for security and to keep the site up. Standard hosting behaviour, not read by the site owner in the normal course.
What is not collected
- No advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
- No profile building, and no sale, rent or trade of your details.
- No sensitive personal information is asked for. Do not send any.
How long it is kept
Newsletter addresses are kept until you unsubscribe, then removed from the sending list. Enquiries are kept while a booking or a conversation is live, and then for as long as tax and accounting rules require, and no longer.
Your rights
- Ask what is held about you and get a copy.
- Ask for it to be corrected or deleted.
- Object to direct marketing at any time, including by clicking unsubscribe.
- Complain to the Information Regulator of South Africa if you are not satisfied.
Who else sees it
The hosting platform and, once it is connected, the mailing list provider and the form provider. Each is used only to run the service described here.
Changes
If this page changes, the date at the top changes with it. There is no quiet revision.
