Marine Walk Shopping Centre is Sibaya Precinct’s flagship retail development, an 8,968 square metre open-air mall in Node 6 built in a distinctive “boomerang” layout across two floors. It opened on 30 September 2022 with 25 stores, anchored by Spar, Woolworths, Dis-Chem, Mr Price and Milady’s, alongside Kauai and Mugg & Bean for food and local tenant Casa Nostra.
What it is
Marine Walk was Devmco’s first completed commercial property in the precinct and remains the only full-scale shopping centre serving Sibaya and, by extension, Umdloti’s own residents. The centre also houses Innova Haus, the office component within the same complex that serves as Devmco’s own head office and home to several professional-services tenants working on the wider precinct.
What it means for Umdloti
Before Marine Walk opened in 2022, Umdloti and the surrounding area had no equivalent large-format retail anchor of its own; residents drove to Umhlanga’s Gateway Theatre of Shopping or further for a full Woolworths and Dis-Chem shop. Marine Walk shortened that trip meaningfully for anyone in Umdloti village, and its Spar and pharmacy now function as the closest everyday-grocery option for many Umdloti households, alongside the village’s own smaller shops covered on the eat and drink venues pages.
Marine Walk’s success also set the template Devmco has since used elsewhere in the precinct: HQ Sibaya for commercial and office space, and Reefside, the second centre on the M4, opening 1 October 2026 with a home-design and dining tenant mix. Its name had not been confirmed in the sources located for this site as of September 2026. For Umdloti, more retail density inside Sibaya means more daily car trips through the M27/M4 corridor, the same route flagged for ongoing gantry works and the 2 September 2026 six-hour M4 closure covered on the Sibaya Precinct pillar.
