Porsche Centre, Sibaya

A relocation of Porsche Centre from its current home in Umhlanga Ridge Town Centre to Sibaya Precinct was written into a precinct-plan amendment application covering Node 1 and Node 5, filed by Devmco on 3 October 2025. In February 2026, Devmco development manager Brad Winstanley told IOL Property that Porsche “has secured over 20,000m2 to build a mega-flagship, state-of-the-art dealership in Sibaya,” calling it the country’s most significant dealership development of its kind. As of September 2026 the dealership has still not moved: Porsche’s own dealer site lists the same Umhlanga address it always has, with no mention of Sibaya or a relocation date.

What is confirmed, and what isn’t

The amendment application required a motor-vehicle display area with limited indoor servicing, a land use not automatically permitted under the original Node 1 and 5 precinct plan, which is why a formal amendment was needed rather than a straightforward lease. That application became one of the items covered by the 451 formal objections Umdloti residents lodged against the Node 1 and 5 amendments between late November 2025 and early January 2026, alongside green belt planting, building setbacks and a proposed taxi rank near the M27. Devmco’s February 2026 statement that land has been secured is a step beyond the original application, but it is the developer’s own characterisation, not an independently confirmed transfer or building-plan approval.

What isn’t confirmed: an opening date, a specific site within Node 1 or 5, or whether the underlying precinct-plan amendment has since been approved by eThekwini. eThekwini spokesperson Gugu Sisilana said in March 2026 that the objections’ validity was still being assessed against municipal bylaws, and no later update on the amendment’s outcome was located for this site as of September 2026.

What it means for Umdloti

A relocated Porsche dealership would add a new, higher-traffic commercial use directly on Umdloti’s own access corridor, alongside the existing Marine Walk retail. Given the uncertainty over the amendment’s outcome, this page is marked “planned” rather than “confirmed” or “under construction,” and will update once eThekwini rules on the amendment or Devmco announces a firm site and date.
