Caffe Java, Umdloti Beach

Caffe Java was a local outlet of the national Italian cafe franchise, at Shop 54-56 South Beach Road, Umdloti Beach, with seating for around 40 guests. It has closed. As a franchise, its food and coffee format followed the other Caffe Java branches around South Africa: espresso-based coffee, light Italian-leaning food, and a menu built for breakfast and lunch rather than long dinners.

Tripadvisor reviews describe it as a reliable breakfast spot with good coffee and a view over Umdloti beach, and note it was pet-friendly. Those reviews and the aggregator listings that still carry the name are a record of what it was, not evidence that it is trading: directory listings outlive the businesses in them. The closure was confirmed locally by the site owner in September 2026, and Salt and Citrus now trades from this unit together with the neighbouring one at Umdloti Beach Centre.
