Mundo Vida was the upstairs restaurant at Umdloti Centre, 1 South Beach Road, with views over the sea from the first floor. It has closed. Other Umdloti lists still recommend it, so don’t plan a meal around it.
The unit has changed hands twice since. It was relaunched as Rockpool, which the Umhlanga Magazine described in April 2026 as “recently renovated and reimagined”. Rockpool’s own website now shows a suspended hosting account. In October 2026 the unit houses an Indian restaurant (confirmed locally). Its name isn’t published yet, so this guide will add a page once it is.
For a meal with a view on the same level, Bel Punto and Salt and Citrus are upstairs in the same centre. Downstairs, Afro’s Chicken Shop, Seattle Coffee and Cafe Bonjour cover a quicker bite. The eat and drink guide has everything else on this stretch.

The location is perfect overlooking the ocean and elevated. On a busy day there is a lack of parking though. The menu seemed promising as a lot of dishes leaned toward Asian flavors. The flavors though are lacking, especially on the Asian dishes. I would definitely give that a mi...

We actually walked in by mistake, thinking it was the entrance to the restaurant next door. The owner told us of the specials the next day and we ended up there the following day. Great food and great views. Will definitely visit again.
