Umdloti Sailor Peter Blofield Finishes Strongly at ORC Nationals

Reported 16 July 2026, Umdloti-based sailor Peter Blofield, who recently relocated to the village, placed sixth overall on handicap racing his boat Regardless 2 at the ORC National Championships.

This is a small, local-interest item, and it points to something worth flagging for anyone considering Umdloti for its lifestyle appeal. The village has an active resident sailing and boating community, even though no dedicated, independently verified “Umdloti Yacht Club” page or facility was confirmed in this research. Sailing here appears to run through informal club and racing circuits rather than a single named local institution.

For a small village of roughly 3,000 permanent residents, having a competitive national-level sailor as a resident fits Umdloti’s surf, kitesurf and fishing culture, covered elsewhere on this site. See things to do in Umdloti for the wider activity picture.
